Areas Of Focus
Tim Recognizes that each person was created with dignity and a capacity to flourish, he incorporates a holistic approach in therapy seeing each person beyond their struggle. He uses the Catholic Christian Meta-Model of the Person (CCMMP) in his approach with counseling. This approach aims at balancing psychological evidence based practices with theology, philosophy and an unconditional positive regard for the whole person.
Tim is a practicum student at Divine Mercy University finishing a masters in clinical mental health counseling. Before pursuing his masters, he completed a Bachelor of Arts from Belmont Abbey College with a minor in theology.
Tim has a robust background in ministry related work including two years as a FOCUS missionary where he served at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches TX. He has worked in various ministry and administrative roles in several churches and currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives for a large parish in the Diocese of Dallas.
A Little About Me
When I was sixteen, a highschool classmate disclosed to me something very difficult occuring in her life. I remember feeling a sense of compassion and empathy that allowed me the opportunity to care for her and help her find a way out of this difficulty. That scenario continued to occur throughout my high school and college years, propelling me into choosing a helping career that allows me the opportunity to help each person find hope and regain peace and joy in their life. I deeply value the unique story and individuality that each person holds.
As a counselor, my hope is to help each person gain a fresh perspective on the truth of their goodness and the reality that they were made to flourish. It is a joy to receive each person that is willing to let me into the messy and often difficult parts of their story. The reality is that we all have struggles; it’s part of being human. My hope is that through trust and courage, each person can allow themselves to be seen and begin the journey of healing. Pope Benedict XVI said, “Look at the face of the other, discover that he has a soul, a history and a life, that he is a person, and that God loves this person”. It would be an honor and a privilege to help you rediscover your goodness in a deeper way.
Quick Takes:
- If I were a dessert, I’d be tiramisu; a mixture of carbs, coffee and cream, what’s better?
- I donated bone marrow to a stranger in 2021 and for a brief period after he received my bone marrow, we had identical DNA structures; closer than identical twins.
- If I were not a therapist, I’d be a professional ski instructor shredding in Colorado daily.
